So it’s been two years since I got my gym membership.  I shared my strength training success after joining the gym, and continue to share my journey with you.  of my successes and challenges this year have outside of the gym walls and away from the weights and machines. The workouts keep me honest and help me to get other places I want to be. I started off with a 10 Mile race in April 2018.. over hills… down hills.. over… Continue reading »

Growing up, I loved riding horses. If it was a clear and sunny Saturday, I was begging my parents to take me to ride. When I passed by the old fence post leading into the pasture where the horses were grazing, I couldn’t wait to jump out and start riding. But, one day I lost control of my horse when he sprinted under a tree, knocking me completely off of the saddle. It took a while before I attempted to… Continue reading »

With the start of the New Year, we tend to reflect on the previous year as well as contemplate the year ahead of us. This is a great time to set your intentions and goals for the new year and ACT upon them! Going into the New Year, I did not have a specific goal in mind. However, on New Year’s Day morning, I saw a post from the North Carolina State Parks Instagram account (@ncstateparks) promoting their NC 100… Continue reading »

The winter season brings shorter days and colder temperatures. But that doesn’t mean you can’t stay active! I really wanted the Garmin Fenix 5 but could not spend that much money on a tracker. So I decided on the FitBit Versa because it can track multiple activities, heart rate, and sleep patterns. This is the only Fitbit I have owned. I am pretty happy with it so far and I’ve… Continue reading »

No matter where you are reading this from geographically, the autumn season brings exciting annual traditions! One of my favorite traditions is to attend the North Carolina State Fair. Even if you do not attend your own state fair, similar events are held in local towns as well.  No matter the size and location of the fair, a few things are certain: friends, fun, rides, and fried foods.  Although many temptations arise at the fair, don’t let them stand in… Continue reading »

Have you ever found consistent exercise a challenge? I had a difficult time being active while I was working and in graduate school at the same time. I could not imagine planning time to exercise. Despite the challenge, realized that I might be busy but I could still be active and now I have reached the anniversary of my daily exercise routine! Last September, I decided to start off small – no extreme exercise plan or waking up at 4am… Continue reading »
