Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes is a CDC-recognized online provider of the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP). The program focuses on evidence-based strategies to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Classes are held in an interactive real-time format with a live instructor, which has proven to be a successful delivery method for a lifestyle program. More than 4,000 participants have enrolled in Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes since 2016.

Main Findings:  Study findings showed a significant decrease in A1C (−0.24 p < 0.0001). Through participation in ESMMPD, participants reduced their risk of type 2 diabetes and increased their overall health, contributing to a healthier U.S. population.

Main Findings:  A DPP using synchronous distance technology is an effective delivery mode to help participants adopt healthy behaviors, increase physical activity, and achieve the weight loss necessary to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.

Main Findings: A synchronous distance education diabetes prevention program has the potential to successfully enhance diabetes prevention efforts. Preliminary findings suggest that sustained attendance is a key component in a participant’s weight loss.
